The Black Professionals in Construction (BPIC) Network was established to champion diversity, representation and progression across the UK builtenvironment.
In 2022, after attending the BPIC Awards, our director at Kristofer approached BPIC witha simple view: the ceremony deserved a trophy that reflected its impact. A designed object with architectural meaning.
The concept is based on ascent, a sculptural form rising like the inspirational people it honours. The stepped massing embeds references of both the letters BPIC and construction, with subtle apertures grounding the piece in the language of buildings.
The design has remained the official BPIC award since 2022, establishing a consistent and recognisable identity for the awards. In 2025, with sponsorship from Ibstock, the piece was reinterpreted in a brick-red finish, reinforcing its connection to core construction materials.
Architectural rather than ornamental, the BPIC award is a constructed object, a permanent symbol of progress within the built environment.
